Summer meal options in the Piedmont Triad: 2024 list of options (2024)

Families in the Piedmont Triad have a variety of resources and support to keep their families well-fed through the summer. Here's our list, broken down by location. Forsyth CountyWinston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools will participate in the Summer Food Service Program. DINE WS/FCS will offer free summer meals to kids and teens ages 18 and younger, for free. Breakfast and lunch will be at some schools from June 17 to July 31. There will be mobile lunch locations, too. Some locations are open five days, while others are open for four days. This is open to students ages 4-18. Registration is mandatory.Weekly Site Pickup Locations:Sylvan Elementary (Monday pick-up 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) Western Alamance High (Tuesday)Pleasant Grove Elementary (Wednesday)Eastern Alamance High (Thursday)Guilford CountyBeginning June 17, students in Guilford County will be able to have breakfast and lunch at no cost. Meals are available Monday through Thursday from 8 to 9 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m. to noon for lunch. More than 20 school and community locations will host summer meal distributions.The school locations are: Hunter ElementaryBrightwood ElementaryOak Hill ElementarySummerfield ElementarySedgefield Elementary Shadybrook ElementaryIrving Park Elementary Hairston MiddleHigh Point Central High Eastern HighRagsdale HighDudley HighSmith High Students who live near Falkener Elementary can visit the meal site at Hairston Middle School. Young people visiting meal sites are required to stay at the facility and eat their meals.Guilford County Schools (GCS) will also serve meals to students involved in summer academic programs and to community locations for families unable to get to school sites.An interactive map located on the district’s data dashboard allows families to input their zip code and find school and community meal sites closest to them. Meals will not be distributed on June 19 or the week of July 1, as the district will be closed. Davie County Davie County Schools will provide free meals to students under the age of 18 from June 18 to Aug. 16. Summer meals in Surry County are served from 8 a.m .to 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. All meals must be consumed on site. This is from May 28 to May 31 and June 3 to June 20. Rockford ElementaryFranklin ElementaryWestfield ElementaryYadkin CountyThe Yadkin County School System will operate the 2024 Summer Feeding Program at several sites in the county. Children 18 and under can get a breakfast and lunch for free with no income requirements. All meals must be eaten onsite.
