Helmken, Kay L. (nee Abrahamson) Age 55, of Plymouth, passed away on March 5th, 2023. Surviv-ed by children, Claire, Caroline, and Peter; parents, Bruce and Arlyce Abrahamson; brother, Keith (Karlene) Abrahamson; nieces and nephews; special friends Lisa and Donovan Saba. Preceded in death by grandparents. Kay attended Armstrong Sr. High 85, Arizona State University, BA 89 summa cum laude in Organizational Communications. She worked at Augsburg University and St. Thomas University as an Alumni Developer. After raising triplets, she went back to work at Providence Academy as a Pre K assistant, at Excelsior Elementary as a 1st grade para, and at Groveland Elementary as an RSK para. Kay enjoyed volunteer work at church. She was a person who cared deeply for others and lived to help those in need. Kay was a wonderful mother who loved her children above all else. A faithful Christian who shared the love of Christ to all that met her. She was a loving daughter, sister and friend. Kay will missed by all who knew her and were lucky enough to have her in their lives. Services willl be held at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6901 Normandale Rd., Edina, MN 55424, Monday, March 13 at 1 PM. Abrahamson, Bruce E., DDS Age 86, of New Hope, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2023. Preceded in death by parents Ed, Evelyn, brother Dean, Daughter Kay Helmken. Survived by wife Arlyce, sister Mavis, son Keith (Karlrene Johnson), Grandchildren, Anika, Grant, Clair, Caroline, Peter and cousins. Bruce was born and raised on what is now a Family Century Farm in Endfield MN. He grew up farming and attended a one room school house where his mother was a teacher. Monticello High School '58. He attended St. Cloud State University while running the farm as his father was ill. After a time at Gustavus he attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, receiving his BS in 1960 and his DDS Degree in 1962. He started Bass Lake Dental in New Hope where he practiced until 1990. While practicing dentistry he continued farming. Bruce considered himself a farmer true to his core. His favorite pastime was watching the Black Angus roam the green pasture hills as the sun set. He was an incredible husband, father, dentist, farmer and friend. He would say to people, "follow your dreams, you can do anything." They would listen and thank him for his advise many years later. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 2, at 1pm with visitation starting at 12 pm at Elim Lutheran Church, 3978 W Broadway Ave, Robbinsdale, MN 55422.
