Hi Bold Bakers!
Frozen Yogurt is so many things. It’s an after school treat, a late night snackand a dessertthat scratches your sweet tooth itch.
No Machine HomemadeFrozen Yogurt means not having to worry about not owning an expensive ice cream machine. I like to make recipes that are accessible to everyone as much as I can. I don’t own an ice cream machine and I’m guessing a lot of you don’t either. What I do own is a food processor. My food processor is used for a multitude of recipes in my kitchen and I love it. There’s not much it can’t do so when I tried to make my own version of frozen yogurt in it I knew it was up to the challenge. The results are a smooth and creamy Frozen Yogurt that is second to none.
The best Frozen Yogurt I ever had was after hiking Mount Diablo in Northern California. After our 6 hour hike in 80oF heat we stopped to get frozen yogurt. I remember as clear as day what I got. It was chocolate with warm caramel sauce. I remember it so well because it was possibly the best thing I have ever eaten. Whetherit was the endorphins from my walk or the fact that I hadn’t eaten in 6 hours I don’t care, it was amazing!!!

I love your frozen yogurt! I have nerve damage in my hands so can’t bake much but I can do this easily. I have experimented and using can fruit, drained and frozen, I now make crushed pineapple and mandarin oranges for one and frozen applesauce and sliced apples with cinnamon for another. Mine don’t get very creamy but I put them in small portion containers and it’s like italian ice I grew up with so I’m very happy. Thank you for all your wonderful recipes. God bless you and your family.
Hi Gemma, how can i make Pomegranate frozen yogurt? And sorbet? I have a lot in my fridge😍 Thank you a lot♥️

Hi Jemma! I plan to make frozen mixed berry cheesecake flavor using your blueberry cheesecake recipe. Is it preferred to use plain Greek yogurt or vanilla Greek yogurt? Something tells me vanilla Greek yogurt will taste better but is there a reason you were using plain yogurt on the video? Also, is it better to use Greek yogurt or just plain normal yogurt?

Your frozen yogurt recipes are so delicious. I made mango with lime and strawberry/banana today…it almost didn’t make it into the freezer. If I knew how easy it was to make, I would have made this years ago. Thank you! My husband never has yogurt in any form but he totally devoured this! I will make it over and over. I think the grandkids will love this!

Tried the Cookies and Cream Frozen Yoghurt and sadly it was a fail. It was so liquidy that it was more like a Milkshake than a creamy dessert? Obviously did something wrong but not sure what? 🙁

For soft-serve-style fro-yo: Churn until the yogurt reaches the consistency of soft-serve ice cream and serve it right away. For scoopable fro-yo: Once it's finished churning, pack it into a freezer container, or cake pan; cover it with parchment paper; and freeze it until hardened.
The frozen stuff also typically includes sugar, flavorings, stabilizers, and cream. Frozen yogurt makers often claim it is a healthier alternative to ice cream, but that depends on the ingredients. It's usually lower in fat and calories than ice cream, but it can be just as high in sugar.
What is the difference between frozen yogurt and ice cream? Both recipes call for dairy and sugar. The dairy in ice cream comes from cream, while frozen yogurt uses cultured milk. The result is that ice cream tends to have a higher fat content, while frozen yogurt contains more sugar to hide its tangier taste.
Significantly, frozen yogurt can also contain probiotics, or live active cultures. These healthy microorganisms can boost your immune system and improve the health of your digestive tract. Ice cream and gelato do not have probiotics, potentially making frozen yogurt a healthier choice.
To make a frozen yogurt you can scoop like ice cream, you need to add sugar. As with ice cream and sorbet, the more sugar you add, the softer your yogurt will be. Sugar molecules get in the way of growing ice crystals, keeping your frozen dessert smooth and creamy.
I was really quick and easy to mix together. It isn't as creamy as full fat ice cream, but the flavor was great and I really liked the tang from the yogurt, I may even add more next time.
Lovato faced backlash in April for speaking out against a small California frozen yogurt shop. On their Instagram Story, they slammed the Los Angeles-based shop The Bigg Chill, saying that they had an "extremely hard" time ordering froyo due to all the sugar-free and "diet foods" the shop offers.
Some frozen yogurts may contain vastly more added sugars than some ice creams, not to mention extra calories and fat from mix-ins like chocolate, cheesecake bites, or Oreo pieces. Extra gums and thickeners in frozen yogurt can also be a concern since they add an extra layer of food processing.
If you have diabetes or insulin resistance, you'll probably want a lower sugar option. In that case, it might make more sense to choose ice cream as an occasional treat. Look for reduced sugar or no-sugar-added varieties. If you're limiting your fat intake, frozen yogurt will be a better choice for you.
Edy's: This manufacturer produces several varieties of their slow-churned ice creams, which contain around 20 g carbohydrates or less per ½-cup serving. The Neopolitan flavor of Edy's contains only 14 g. Halo Top: Halo provides ice cream flavors with additional protein and low carbohydrates.
Mixmi Frozen Yogurt is one of the healthiest options in the frozen yogurt aisle. At just 90 calories per serving and with 1.5 grams of fat, it's an excellent choice for those mindful of their dessert choices. With both probiotics and prebiotic fiber, this choice supports your digestive health.
Yes, you can freeze yogurt to eat like ice cream. Note that the texture may be firmer compared to store-bought frozen yogurt or ice cream, but it still makes a refreshing and healthy snack. How long does yogurt last if I freeze it? Yogurt lasts for one to two months in the freezer.
So, the good news here is that if you're looking for an iced dessert or treat that has similar properties to ice cream but is lower in calories and saturated fat, sherbet is going to be preferable over ice cream as a more diet friendly alternative.
Yogurt and other low-fat dairy products may protect against high blood pressure. One review found a link between low-fat dairy, especially yogurt and milk, and reduced risk of hypertension.
Yes, you can freeze yoghurt but you should be mindful that its texture will change, becoming thinner and less creamy. It will still be fine to use in cooking or smoothies. To freeze small amounts of yoghurt, pop it in ice cube trays, then transfer cubes to a freezer bag and expel air.
Fresh yoghurt freezes remarkably well for up to two months. Upon thawing, the texture may change slightly and appear to be more liquid or grainy than it originally was. A simple fix is to stir vigorously for 30 seconds before using to even out the texture.
However, it is important to note that while freezing may preserve the yogurt, it may not retain the same quality as when consumed fresh. Overall, freezing Greek yogurt can result in water separation, a loss of texture, and potential changes in taste.
Making freeze-dried yogurt not only extends the shelf life of our homemade yogurt; it also makes a portable snack the whole family can enjoy, and it provides a shelf-stable culture to use when I'm ready to make another batch of fresh yogurt.
